It took two months.
At the end of 2017, I declared that I was not going to track my net worth for an entire year. It was distracting me from doing other things. It was always on my mind. One of my favorite ways to procrastinate was to open up my net worth spreadsheet and stare at the numbers. I thought that by giving them attention, I would make them grow.
It’s true that by giving those number attention, they grow. But, it’s also not entirely true. They don’t grow by attention alone. They grow by actions taken over a period of time.
Every time I looked at the numbers, I became overwhelmed with actions I was and was not taking. I felt impatient and ungrateful for the numbers I was seeing.
